The Webb Family wishes you a very Happy New Year! Even more than happiness, grow closer to God, read the Word more, pray more, love more, and be more like Jesus than ever before. So, even though the tradition is to be/say "be happy this next year", James says Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. The more important verse regarding 'happy' is in Matthew 18, verse 13: And if he finds it [a lost sheep], I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.
I think of this past year and all the times that I didn't feel happy. I couldn't find a verse promising happiness either?! But more importantly, I can recall the times this past year that we stepped out in faith and obeyed what we believe the Lord asked us to do...and that is what brings true happiness. Finally, Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God.
So, in a nutshell, our hearts and desires are to please the Lord in all that we do in 2009!
