"Devil, be quiet and don't talk to little boys"

I just love my boys. The other day Ethen was unusually disobedient and I wasn't sure why. We were just about to leave the house and he was not obeying. Then we got in the car and he told me that he didn't need to wear his seat belt. We always wear seatbelts, but he insisted that he didn't need to. Then, after buckling him, he was still acting disobediently with his words. Like I said, that is not like him, so I asked him:
"Ethen, is the devil telling you to disobey Mommy?" He answered "yes".
So, I decided to lead him in a prayer. He was quite open to that. Before we started praying, I told him that it is important that he only obey God and his Mommy and Daddy. So, he repeated this prayer after me:
"Dear Jesus, I obey God. I obey Daddy and Mommy. Devil, be quiet. I don't obey you. In Jesus' Name, Amen"
Right after that, his attitude and demeanor immedietly changed and he piped up and said,
"Momma, when the devil talks to little boys, they [little boys] say "devil, be quiet and don't talk to little boys!""
Yep, that's right! Enough said!
The rest of the trip he was great. He communicated well, honestly and lovingly! It was so cool. I could have responded in several different ways, but I really feel like God lead me to pray that with him and to be very kind with my words and not get really upset and demand his obedience. I love being his (and Jude's) Momma!
